Councillor Tony Belton

Tony Belton has been Councillor for Latchmere since 1982 and is leader of Wandsworth's Labour councillors.

He is the Opposition Speaker on the Corporate Resources (principal policy committee of the Council) and Planning Applications Committees. Tony believes local government is much under-valued in Great Britain. He is concerned about the built environment and Wandsworth’s lack of coherent policies towards development in the Borough, particularly of affordable housing and high rise buildings.

Tony was a JP for 10 years and is the Vice-Chair of Governors of Battersea Park School, one of the fastest improving secondary schools in the country. He is the Treasurer of SERA, an environmentalist lobby group. He lives with his partner in Salcott Road, off Northcote Road, Battersea.
