Martin has lived in Battersea for over 30 years, and since 1997 has been its local MP. He was previously a journalist for several national newspapers, including The Daily Mail and The Guardian.
In Parliament, Martin recently led a successful campaign for a referendum on a more modern, fairer voting system to be held in the next year.
He has twice led campaigns to save Battersea Arts Centre from closure by the Conservative council; and is currently fighting for improved local transport links, a new school and legislation banning dangerous dogs in order to tackle anti-social behaviour.
During Martin’s time in Parliament, he has helped 25,000 local people through his weekly surgeries and parliamentary casework.
As well as domestic politics, Martin is concerned about peace and justice in Israel and Palestine and is Chair of Labour Friends of Palestine & the Middle East; and since working as an MP, has visited Israel and Gaza three times campaigning for peace talks.
Martin lives in Battersea with his wife and two step-daughters, as well as having two grown-up daughters. He has run the London Marathon twice and cycles to work in Westminster; and as of last year he was named as the 13th lowest spending MP in Parliament.
He was educated at the Universities of Oxford and Lyon, speaks three European languages, supports Fulham FC, and plays the trumpet.

Will Martindale has lived in Battersea for five years. He studied Maths at Kings College, London, and has a Masters degree in Politics and Economics from the London School of Economics. He currently works for an investment bank based in Moorgate. In 2008 Will went to live and work in New York City, where he also campaigned for Barack Obama. After graduating, he was agent and organiser to Battersea MP, Martin Linton.
In his spare time Will enjoys live music and is a keen runner, having completed both the London and Paris marathons. He is currently learning French and his favourite TV shows are The Wire and The West Wing.

Jessica currently works as an adviser in local government. Previously she worked for the Fabian Society, a political think tank, and in policy for the voluntary sector, campaigning for better childcare services and for more provision for the homeless. She has also volunteered for the Citizen’s Advice Bureau.
Jessica lives in Battersea. She has had a passion for progressive politics and social justice for as long as she can remember, and worked in the United States for the Obama presidential campaign in 2008.

Tony is a retired senior civil servant who had worked in Social Security for 30 years. In the 1990’s he was a Councillor in Wandsworth and sometime chair of the Battersea Arts Centre Board; chair of the audit committee of South Thames College governors; and chair of finance s/c of Battersea Churches Housing Trust
He is currently on the management committees of a number of local voluntary & charitable organisations including Age Concern Wandsworth, the Wand youth club; Trinity Fields Trust; De Morgan foundation. He is also the Chair of the Battersea Society, the Wandsworth Older People’s Forum, the Wandsworth Older People’s Network and the Sir Walter St John’s Educational Charity. He has been described as “the trustee on the Clapham Junction omnibus”.
